DIGITAL VS PHYSICAL LODGES

PURPOSE

This document defines the two primary formats under which lodges may operate: digital and physical.
Both formats are considered equally legitimate and are supported under the lodge framework.

--------------------------------------------------

DIGITAL LODGES

Digital lodges operate primarily through online platforms.

They may:
- meet via video or audio conferencing
- coordinate through chat platforms or forums
- share documents and resources digitally
- include participants from multiple locations

Digital lodges are especially suited for:
- geographically distributed participants
- topic-specific coordination
- accessibility-focused participation

--------------------------------------------------

PHYSICAL LODGES

Physical lodges meet primarily in person.

They may:
- gather in homes, community spaces, or public venues
- organize local projects or activities
- coordinate face-to-face collaboration

Physical lodges are especially suited for:
- local mutual aid
- hands-on projects
- community presence

--------------------------------------------------

EQUAL STATUS

Digital and physical lodges:
- operate under the same principles
- follow the same participation standards
- are granted equal affiliation status

Differences between formats are logistical, not hierarchical.

--------------------------------------------------

HYBRID APPROACHES

Lodges may combine digital and physical elements.

Examples include:
- in-person meetings with remote participants
- digital coordination supporting physical projects
- rotating formats based on need

Hybrid approaches are encouraged when they improve access and function.

--------------------------------------------------

SAFETY AND ACCESSIBILITY

Lodges should consider:
- participant safety
- accessibility needs
- privacy concerns
- platform reliability

No specific platform is required or endorsed.

--------------------------------------------------

SUMMARY

The lodge framework supports both digital and physical participation.

Choice of format should be guided by:
- participant needs
- project requirements
- accessibility
- practicality
