Carrito Shop Requirements

Carrito Shop Requirements

What It Means to Be a Carrito Service Provider

Carrito service providers are independent shops or builders who offer fabrication, assembly, or support services within the Carrito documentation framework.

This page exists to help shops understand what participation actually involves before requesting to be listed or accepting customer inquiries.

Carrito is not a turnkey kit system. Service providers are expected to exercise professional judgment, communicate clearly with customers, and document their work responsibly.

Who This Is For

This is a good fit for shops that:

  • Fabricate or assemble mechanical systems

  • Are comfortable with custom or semi-custom builds

  • Communicate directly with customers about scope and limitations

  • Understand that outcomes vary by configuration and agreement

This may not be a good fit for shops seeking:

  • High-volume, standardized production

  • Factory-defined kits with fixed margins

  • Guaranteed outcomes or centralized engineering sign-off

Baseline Shop Capabilities

Carrito service providers should be capable of:

  • General metal fabrication (cutting, drilling, welding)

  • Mechanical assembly and alignment

  • Mounting engines, motors, or drivetrains

  • Installing braking, steering, and suspension components

  • Working from documentation rather than fixed kits

Capability expectations scale with build class:

  • SG (Small Grid) – conservative, compliance-oriented builds

  • LG (Large Grid) – advanced, builder-driven builds

  • DLG – experimental or research builds (optional)

Documentation and Communication

Shops are expected to:

  • Review Carrito documentation relevant to their build class

  • Discuss configuration and limitations with customers in advance

  • Maintain clear build notes or records

  • Use appropriate disclosures for non-baseline or experimental builds

Carrito certification reflects process participation, not guarantees.

Compliance and Responsibility

Service providers are responsible for:

  • Understanding local regulations

  • Advising customers on compliance considerations

  • Declining work that exceeds their capability or comfort level

  • Ensuring safety practices appropriate to the build class

Carrito does not override local law or professional judgment.

Customer Expectations

Carrito customers may request:

  • Baseline builds

  • Advanced configurations

  • Salvaged or custom power systems

  • Experimental platforms

Shops should be prepared to:

  • Clarify what they will and will not build

  • Set boundaries

  • Price work according to complexity

  • Decline requests that are unsafe or impractical

Certification and Listing

Being listed as a Carrito Certified Service Provider indicates:

  • Familiarity with the Carrito framework

  • Participation in the builder community

  • Willingness to work transparently within documented classes

Listing is optional. Shops may use Carrito documentation without being listed.

At launch, a limited number of service providers may be listed without a listing fee to ensure early ecosystem viability. Selection is based on capability, not order of signup.

Before You Apply

Before requesting a listing, shops should:

  • Review Carrito build classes

  • Decide which classes they support

  • Consider capacity for custom work

  • Be prepared for direct customer communication

Interested in Being Listed?

If this aligns with your shop’s capabilities and goals, you may request consideration for listing in the Carrito Certified Services Catalog.

Bottom Line

Carrito works best with shops that:

  • Build thoughtfully

  • Communicate clearly

  • Respect boundaries

  • Treat customers as collaborators, not transactions

This framework is designed to support real builders doing real work.
